ABOUT
Double Decker Music is formed of husband and wife composing duo Kathryn and Mike MacLennan. Having built respective composing careers across a variety of media, they decided to join forces to score TV & film projects, including Civilisations: Rise & Fall - the latest iteration of the BBC’s landmark Civilisations history series. They are currently working on the scores for several natural history feature documentaries.
MIKE
Bio//
Mike is known for his combination of contemporary electronics with orchestral scoring. He has scored a variety of soundtracks for TV, film and other media - recent work includes the Netflix natural history feature Living With Leopards (nominated for Best Score at the 2024 Wildscreen Panda Awards). He has contributed additional music to the scores of composers such as David Arnold (Inside Man), Paul Leonard-Morgan (Dynasty), and Peter Gregson (Lost Boys and Fairies). Alongside composing, Mike has also provided orchestrations and arrangements for major film & TV projects – most recently Fuze (starring Theo James, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Sam Worthington), and Last Breath (starring Woody Harrelson, Simu Liu & Finn Cole). As well as composing for film & TV, Mike has established himself as a classical artist. He released two singles (Changing Skies and Nocturne) as part of a series of pieces inspired by astropolaroid photography, and his album Caelestia (released by Chromium Music Group) received critical acclaim from Scala Radio, who made it their 'Album of the Week'. He is also a full voting member of BAFTA.

KATHRYN

She later switched to composing, where she has built a career from combining her love of film music with her passion for classical composing, with works performed by ensembles such as the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. Kathryn collaborates regularly with White Stork Music (a Cutting Edge Group company headed up by Emmy-nominated composer Tom Howe), through which she has written music for shows such as The Apprentice, Fletcher's Family Farm, Shetland: Scotland's Wondrous Isles and The Yorkshire Vet. Alongside this, she writes production music for labels such as Universal, Extreme Music and Zone Music, with tracks featuring on an array of productions for networks such as BBC, CBS, ESPN, ITV, Sky Sports and PBS.
